Beaded Stitched Foraged With Love
I am rediscovering my family's roots through my art. Like many Métis, my family tried to hide from their mixed-blood heritage. My father felt great shame for who he was and was othered by his peers. I am on a mission to change this narrative and to embrace our history with love, understanding, and pride.
Happily creating leather items, beaded and quilled accessories, smudge fans, beading patterns, and one of a kind works of art.
I strive to support Indigenous communities while creating, and source my materials from local nations. I practice smudging and offering while working with natural materials.
I learn and practice my crafts with Métis members online and in-person. I have had incredible opportunities to learn from Métis artists such as Lisa Shepherd, and esteemed knowledge keepers including Elder Charlotte Nolin and Elder Patricia Ekland. I value the stories that accompany every new technique.
